AILEACH FC UNDERAGE TEAMS
Aileach started their underage program in the mid 1990's and it has grown vastly over the years, leading to more success and more opportunities for the underage players playing for the club. The club has had and always will have an all inclusive policy. Over the years, we have had numerous successes on the pitch with various underage teams.
Aileachs underage programme now provides training and matches for players from the age of 6 until the age of 18.
Aileach now provides a steady stream of players to the Inishowen Youth & Schoolboys Academy and have provided players for both Derry City and Finn Harps senior and national league teams. We have also provided other opportunities for young players by taking players on overseas trips. Aileach has competed in tournaments in both England and Scotland over the years, as well as competing in the Foyle Cup on a yearly basis at various age levels.
Some of Aileach's underage players have gone on to success at a higher level. Thomas McMonagle played over 100 times for Finn Harps in the League of Ireland before returning to Aileach. Gareth McGlynn played 383 times for Derry City and collected 2 Ireland Under 21 caps before returning "home". The most recent and ongoing success is Georgie Kelly, Georgie is now playing for Bohemians in the League of Ireland Premier Division after spells with St. Pats, Dundalk and UCD. Georgie also has been capped at underage level for the Republic of Ireland as well as representing the Republic of Ireland Schoolboys team. Georgie the only player to win the League of Ireland Premier Division, the First Division Title and the FAI Cup in the one season.
